Heart of Europe

Josef Kleindienst is a key figure behind the Heart of Europe project, a massive development project located on the coast of the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He is the founder and CEO of Kleindienst Group, a company involved in a range of real estate developments.

The Heart of Europe project, which is part of the larger The World island development, is designed to be a luxury, island-based destination. It features a number of islands with private homes, luxury resorts, and even an artificial snow area. The development in Dubai is meant to replicate the charm and sophistication of European living with themes inspired by iconic European cities, offering residents and visitors a taste of Europe while still being in the heart of Dubai.

The owners of the multibillion-pound James Bond franchise are embroiled in a fight to keep control of the super spy's name, after a Dubai-based property developer filed claims in the UK and Europe that they are not using the trademark across a range of goods and services.

The Austrian businessman Josef Kleindienst has filed a slew of what are known officially as "cancellation actions based on non-use" targeting the James Bond name.

Under UK and EU law, if a name is trademarked against certain goods and services but the owner does not commercially exploit it in these areas for a period of at least five years then a challenge to revoke ownership of the name can be made.

Kleindienst's vision was to create a place that merges the best aspects of Europe with the luxury of Dubai, creating a world-class, innovative community.
